JUDITH GUZMAN RAMIREZ

SCULPTOR ENTHUSIAST

HORROR/SCI-FI/FANTASY ADVOCATE

"The Jude-Effect (Handmade monsters)" is the catalyzer for the lucid dreams that I have constantly dealt with since I was 8 years old. I make monsters as I need to let them out of my system and into the world. Now I can say that I'm friends with my monsters and demons.

I have built a homemade studio in Vancouver, B.C., and thanks to 2020's lockdown I was able to focus my time and energy on connecting with my hands. I started working with traditional ceramic techniques that I learned during a summer workshop in a Chinatown clay studio (I would purchase clay and bisque fire my pieces in their kiln). Still, as a person that works full time with 3D artists, I started to hear about Sculpey, cosclay and decided to sign up at Stan Winston School of Character Arts. Furthermore, I realized that terracotta and any clay, would trigger eczema problems in my hands, polymers are less harmful to my skin and I can even bake my pieces at home! I've fully switched from ceramics to polymers.

My inspiration comes from my passion for horror, sci-fi and fantasy videogames, literature, and films, on top of that I also live in a place surrounded by buildings and nature, therefore some of my tools are tokens that I collect when walking in my neighborhood.
